Mother/Daughter Council Retreat

Event Date: May 25 2013 - 10:00am - May 26 2013 - 4:00pm

Join Kate Lipkis and Phoebe Lipkis for two sweet days exploring your relationship with the one you came from or the one you gave birth to!

No other relationship comes close to the one you share with the woman you came from or the daughter you gave birth to. It has the potential to make or break us - often both at the same time. Generational differences separate us, genetic similarities connect us. It's a love that can be one of our greatest comforts, supporting us throughout our lives.

Spend two sweet days exploring this relationship in the wild, natural setting of The Ojai Foundation. We will enjoy time alone as well as with our beloved other and with all the women who gather. We will honor our female ancestors, trace our lineage, celebrate the joys we share together, acknowledge the times when we crash and burn, and find new ways to bring ritual and meaning to this special bond.

Come enjoy good food, good fun and good nature!

$600 per couple includes shared accommodation and three meals.

* For those who wish for extra time together, free accommodation is available on Friday night on the understanding that the program begins at 10am on Saturday morning. We will end by 4pm on Sunday.

Kate Lipkis first heard about Council from her daughter, Phoebe. She helped lead its introduction at her son's elementary school in 1999 and is now a council practitioner, consultant, mentor and trainer in the LA Unified School District and beyond. She practices council with her partner, hosts regular circles in her Venice home and is part of The Ojai Foundation's council outreach program to prisons and social profit organizations.

Phoebe Lipkis discovered Council in the sixth grade at Palms Middle School. As Development Director for the Center for Women and Families in Louisville, KY, she draws on her background in social psychology and mediation to allow the voices of diverse cultures, identities and perspectives to be heard and to create a collaborative and inclusive organization that makes space for telling and hearing stories.
