This Training is meant to develop skills and safety awareness applicable to any ropes course. All participants will carry away a certificate of completion that can be used in your resume and documentation. The Safety & Rescue Certification is specifically for The Ojai Foundation's Adventure Course.
7:30 MORNING STRETCH and Ceremonial Dance of Intention (optional)
Pot Luck Breakfast (Optional)
9:00 CHECK IN COUNCIL followed by discussion on Ropes Course Certification Process and Manual, Forms, and TOF’s Safety Procedures.
10:00 ROPES COURSE, HIGH AND LOW ELEMENTS. Introduction and demonstration of gear, knots, and props for on and off-site programs.
Walk through and set up of course starting with the low elements including activity goals, safety concerns of each element/activity, safe spotting procedures and commands, and facilitation and processing techniques (front-loading and debriefing).
12:00 LUNCH BREAK (BROWN BAG)
1:00 HIGH ELEMENTS set up, equipment care and use, knots, belaying, and rescue techniques.– team review and run through
4:30 DEBRIEF OF DAY : Self- Assessments and “Next Steps”
