Hypertufa Water Basins with Leslie Roberts, 1st Day

Unpublished

Sat, 02/13/2016 - 10:00am to 4:00pm

A Hands-on Workshop with Leslie Roberts, long-time Land Steward and Earth Artist in the Ojai Foundation lineage

During these two days, we will be making basins for water features using the same medium that many of our sculptures here at the Land Sanctuary are made of, Hypertufa.
This light weight cementitious-plaster is what we will use to make basins to allow for cascading water to infiltrate our landscape.   We are gradually building a way to distribute well-water and rain-runoff  into several small wetland zones. Once we have made the basins and gotten a feel for how the Hypertufa can be used, we will place some basins into an evolving installation that models a way of watering that uses the same water more than once, and beautifully celebrates the water!

You can make a basin to take with you for an additional $25 materials cost, to be paid the day of workshop.

FEE:
$50 per day for workshop includes hands-on building of a basin to be installed in the wild gardens of The Ojai Foundation.
Participants can come either or both days. (For both days, please register on this page, as well as the Sunday workshop page, by clicking here)

PLEASE FEEL FREE TO COME FOR ANY PART OF THE DAY AND GIVE A DONATION FOR YOUR EXCHANGE AT THE DOOR.
