View a video overview of Leadership Embodiment here.

Research shows that at least 70% of all communication is non-verbal. Learning to unify the body's message with what is being said enhances our capacity for effective leadership and more fulfilling relationships.

Each of us has patterns that arise when we are confronted with a leadership task or challenge. Often our mind understands what is needed to create more skillful interactions and yet we are not able to do what we so clearly understand. The body needs to experience skillful alternatives that then translate into a deeper understanding and a capacity to take a different action.

Leadership Embodiment offers tools and practices that help us to be more effective and sustain a positive outlook in how we relate to our lives particularly when we are under pressure and feel threatened. The focus is on the body and using different energy patterns to create a positive shift.

• Inclusiveness – we are in this together
• Centered Listening – listening without taking it personally
• Advocating/ Speaking Up – without aggression or collapsing

The Fundamentals Level 1 course offers participants an introduction to LE practices and principles. Through simple physical exercises that apply light pressure, we are able to recognize the patterns that arise when we are in intense situations.  Once we are familiar with our pattern, we apply centering practices to help us shift to a more creative, compassionate and skillful state. Working in pairs, we chunk down learning exercises to create a lasting somatic imprint in the body. Individual debrief and group discussions create a dynamic learning container.
The Fundamentals Level 1 Course will introduce you to:

• The language and basic forms of the LE model.
• The “signature” stress pattern of how your system reacts under pressure.
• The “how” to shift from a reactive state to a responsive, skillful state.
• Exercises to increase your access to Presence, Confidence and Compassion.
• A way to re-engage clarity and compassion when faced with conflict or opposition.
• Practices to synchronize the physical and energetic system with what is being said verbally.

Wendy Palmer holds a sixth dan in Aikido and has practiced mindfulness for over 30 years. She created Leadership Embodiment, a model that draws from these two disciplines, to offer the principles in a way that is easily accessible and can be applied in every day life situations.
