Professional Development on

Issues surrounding transgender and gender nonconforming youth have become the focus of news headlines, as well as national policy, lawsuits, and political rhetoric.

Closer to home, TOF and the schools it partners with are seeing an increase in the number of youth who are publicly identifying as transgender, gender nonconforming, genderqueer, gender non-binary, etc.  They are in our circles, sharing their stories, and raising new questions for those of us who work to support youth.

At this professional development, we will explore:
·      What new national, state, or school laws and policies have been established and how do they impact our work with youth at TOF and elsewhere?

·      What do all these terms mean? (For example, gender identity vs. gender expression, social transitioning, gender spectrum, FTM, MTF, and more)

·      How do we provide sensitive and competent support for these youth as they proceed on their life journeys?

We’ll have a chance to ask questions, dialogue, and learn together.
