Winter Solstice Celebration

Save the date! Join us for this annual tradition with the community of Ojai, featuring a sunset ceremony and live music. We will celebrate the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year, with music, beauty, ceremony, and light!

For this special event, our main gathering space, the Council House, is transformed into a festive, sacred, and vibrant community hall. In the center is our spiral of lights, through which you are welcome to walk with intention, offerings, or prayers. When you're finished, head over to the kitchen for a big community potluck dinner. Stay warm by the fire in our deep kiva or sit outside under the stars. Boogie down in the Council House to end your night in celebration!

 MADRIGALI

Tentative Schedule

4:00pm Gather at the Sunset Terrace.
Bring soup and/or bread donations to the Main Kitchen.

4:15pm Honoring the sun with MADRIGALI, Ojai's Renaissance singers. 
We'll gather together to honor the sun as it sets on the shortest day of the year and spark a flame as we transition into darkness.

4:46pm Sunset and Children's Procession
Join us in a celebratory procession with the ceremonial flame through the land, ending at the Council House for opening the Spiral of Lights.

5pm - 7pm Spiral of Lights Ceremony
Each person will have an opportunity to walk the spiral. Sit in silence and watch the spiral come to life with light or head over to the kitchen for a potluck soup supper.

7pm - 9pm Chanting and dancing with the live music of AYKANNA
We'll clear the floor so you can get your groove on in the Council House. During this time you're also welcome to hang out in our Deep Kiva or simply walk the grounds.

Offerings, Contributions, and Donations

This event is put together by the community of The Ojai Foundation, its staff, and its volunteers. We sincerely appreciate your humble donations and we simply hope to "break even" for the hours and hours of work this beautiful event entails. Offerings for this event are based on a sliding scale fee of $10-$100/per person. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.

We bring the soup, you bring the desserts! Finger foods encouraged (less dishes!).
